Potpourri a smorgasbord of topics
Welcome to our site. Our goal is to empower you to improve your lifestyle. By making better choices that will in turn influence your health, happiness, longevity and status in life, you will take charge of your own destiny. We are not meant to be passive individuals with no input into our future or we would not need a brain with which to think individually. We were given free will to do as we please but also a heart to feel for others and a consciousness to have regret, so as to do no harm, as we would not wish harm upon ourselves or our loved ones. These social norms established by us make up the basis of our morals and values and determine our ethical rationales. This is why we have self discipline and a tame society with rules and laws. Our social status, race, ethnicity and religion greatly influence what is considered deviant and non deviant behavior in society. These make up our culture. Our behavior as a society is strongly influenced by our culture. We live in a diverse country made up of many cultures and subcultures creating the ‘melting pot’ for which the United States is great. What is deviant for one culture may be the norm for another. We must understand and appreciate the differences amongst each culture in order to respect them. It is with sensitivity that we educate one about some dangerous habits that are culturally based that affect health, happiness, and wealth. There are ways that misinformation and ignorance to the better way can be addressed without prejudice. We want to embrace the diversity of multi-race and multi-culture because each is fascinating to learn about, experience and observe. We do not want to be one boring world. We want to see color. We do not want to be color blind. Everyone should be proud of whatever race, color, nationality, or religion they are and respect the next person of a different creed. Each person, as long as not breaking the law or harming another fellow man, should have equal opportunity. We as a people who make up the society should be inclusive and nurture, not exclusive and abusive. With this being said there are health issues unique to each culture that are in direct correlation with diet, activity, stress, religious beliefs, child rearing philosophy, hygiene and most of all socioeconomic status and access to healthcare. We need to have sensitivity towards each individual persons’ philosophy on life based on their life experiences and what gives them a sense of wellbeing. We need to approach with caution when we have differing opinions. There is a way to differ, disagree or debate with respect for the other persons’ position. Since there is ‘more than one way to skin a cat’ keep an open mind, listen to the other person and you might be enlightened to a new way that is better than your own. “Free your mind and the rest will follow, be color blind don’t be so shallow” by En Vogue.
